Alessia Cara
At the age of 19, she released Here, her debut single. The single was a hit and was praised by critics and listeners alike. It reached the top spot at 19th on both the Canadian Hot 100 as well as the Billboard Hot 100. Even Rolling Stone named it one of the best songs of 2015. The singer released her debut Know It All album in the year that followed. The third track, Scars to Your Beautiful is one of the five songs that reached the top charts on Billboard which included Canadian Albums Chart Billboard 200 and Billboard Hot 100. This particular track was special due to her interview with Rap-Up, many people related to her journey in self-doubt as well as learning how to appreciate herself. Cara is known for incorporating messages about mental health kindness and self-love into her music. Her music is derived directly from her struggle with mental illness and insomnia. In a recent interview with Reuters she declared her album "half chaotic" and "half perfected". She claims she has grown by therapy and is adamant about encouraging those around her to seek assistance when necessary. Alessia Cara was born to Italian parents on the 11th day of July 1996. When she was just 10 years old, her parents gifted her a guitar, which was the beginning of her passion for music. She began covering the songs she loved at 13 in order to show that world that she had the skills and the courage required to become a professional singer. The cover of Sweater Weather eventually got her discovered by a record label called EP Entertainment which allowed her to write and create her songs.
